How To Set Up A Custom Spend Limit?
Spending limits are an important part of how billing through Shopify works. In order to be able to provide our services it's required that when you integrate a Shopify store we run all of the billing via their system. The spending limit is the maximum amount that we can charge you through Shopify each month.
It's important to note that when your limit is reached, Greenspark services will be suspended until your budget is increased or the next billing cycle begins to prevent extra charges. All widgets as well as any active impact creation will be paused. Basically anything that requires payment or any claims that you make such as "we plant a tree for every order" will be deactivated or need to be removed manually from your site to prevent greenwashing.
Spend limits are store specific so you will need to create a new one for each additional store that you add to your Greenspark account.
In this article we will cover:
How to set up your spend limit
How to edit your spend limit
After integrating Shopify you will see a banner within the app which prompts you to create a spending limit. Simply click on Manage Payment to get started.

On the first page you will need to choose what limit level you want to set. You will have three options:
Recommended limit: this is calculated based on average monthly usage of similar stores on your plan.
Enhanced limit: this covers high impact months such as Black Friday, Earth Month or Christmas.
Set your own: here you are able to choose your own limit.
The spend limit needs to at least cover months where you will be billed for your subscription. This means that on yearly plans you will be required to set a higher limit than on a monthly plan.

Once you have chosen your desired limit you will need to click on Proceed To Shopify to accept the billing set up and ensure that we are able to process payments.
Clicking on Cancel Shopify Integration will remove your Shopify store connection

When re-directed to Shopify simply click on Approve to accept the spend limit.

After that you will be automatically re-directed to the Greenspark app and your billing will be set up. Click on Go To My Account to go back to your dashboard.

We’ll email you when you reach 80%, 95%, and 100% of your spending limit so you can stay on top of your spending.
To edit your spend limit you can head to Account -> Billing

Here you can see how much of their spending limit each of your stores has used so far. Find the store you for which you want to edit the spend limit and click on the pencil icon.

Next you will be able to update your current spend limit. The next steps are the same as in part 1. Set up your spend limit.
